London
clubs, the Dancer's views (dated 2003/2004)
Provided by Tyke.
I thought it might be interesting to ask a few experienced
girls their opinions about the London strip scene as it is now and how
the various places compare. As their all still working and I wanted them
to tell the unvarnished truth they will remain anonymous.
Dancer A has been on the London strip scene
for about 5 years and had tried several of the London clubs and more recently
a few strip pubs. She told me "The clubs have all started packing
in as many girls as possible and with high house fees it's made the whole
thing stressful and unpleasant. I think most of the girls working in clubs
would be surprised how much better and more enjoyable to work at the properly
run strip pubs are now". Her views on the individual clubs she has
worked in are;
Tired looking decor, but beautiful, if stuck up, dancers.
Excellent when it first opened when we had much more artistic freedom
- now absolute sterile shit for customers who are scrutinised in person
and by CCTV while they 'enjoy' their dance by the security - ridiculously
strict with nude stage shows -
why ? - and just as many girls working as are willing to work.
Small, very quiet, now closed.
Stairs up and down to the private dance area bit of a pain but a well
positioned pole and reasonably busy.
Decent size with not too many girls and realistic commission structures.
Very quiet when I was there but well situated and above a separate bar.
Slippy chrome pole, in the worst place ever stuck in the corner of the
club next to the
gents, retarded music policy, unlimited girls working, though good for
newbies and offers accommodation above.
Very small club but dances are quite hot (YMMV) with a separate exclusive
VIP dancing room.
Bloodshed here with too many very bitchy girls although myself I had no
problem but not as busy as you would expect.
Beautiful club albeit not terribly busy, tends to get the dregs who can't
get into SR TCR. Pole in the middle of the club excellent.
Walkabout dances with audience participation and close private dances,
good money for a lunchtime pub session.
Lovely atmosphere though quite small - great at lunchtimes and weekends.
Best at weekends with the creme de la creme of London dancers.
Dancer B is a well known adult model who has been working in clubs and
pubs on and off for 6 or 7 years. She said "I mostly work at private
parties these days as regular shifts are difficult to fit in with all
the other work I do, so my comments are probably slightly out of date.
When I was working at the Central London clubs they were mainly busy but
these days I hear they are quieter ". The places she has worked at
are,
Smaller than I expected, plush in a slightly old fashioned way and normally
full. High house fees and lots of rules but you can make good money there.
Not as good as it thinks it is though in my view.
I only worked there for a few months when it first opened, it's a super
club and was very busy then. They tended though to have too many girls
on at once even then when it was packed. I hear it's quieter now.
Smart place but rather small. Good money at the start but then they kept
putting up both the number of girls and the house fees so I moved on.
I hear like Spearmint TCR it's much quieter these days.
Consistently good money and very well organised, less girls per shift
so a lot less bitching. Some busy nights have an electric atmosphere,
quite fussy about the girls they take on. Quite strict though and want
you to work regularly which did not suit me in the end.
Sister pub to Browns, smaller but tends to be busier in the afternoon.
Very 3rd division pub just down the road from Browns. Tatty, too many
girls, poor security, can't compare to Browns but more flexible about
shifts.
Dancer C came to London 7 years ago and has worked at a number of clubs
and several pubs. She says "A lot of clubs lack atmosphere and many
of the pubs can be much more fun. My main hate is the way high house fees
and too many girls create a nasty atmosphere between the girls themselves
".
Very strict with lots of silly rules and no atmosphere whatsoever. Although
they have some very good pole dancers there the poles themselves are poor.
It's safe and clean but lacking in customers.
In most ways much worse than FYEO, the place was much less strictly run
and full of drugs with non stop agro between the girls. More of a local
place than Central London though and had some quite nice regular customers.
Probably was my favourite London club {I hear it's shut now}, lots of
music industry people as customers, nice décor and a nice atmosphere
amongst the girls. The management though were very inexperienced at running
a TD club and at times seemed to think they were running a clip joint
{champagne stuff etc}.
Only worked here for a short time. Super looking club, girls very mercenary,
and porn on the videos which I did not like. I went as a VIP customer
once though and was treated very well indeed.
I liked this when it opened, it was fun and not too many girls on at once
so you could make money. Very mixed customer base. Then I think Rainbow
then got greedy packing the girls in and at the same time the place got
filthy. Now some of the Eastern European girls are paying a weekly booking
fee on top of the daily house fee and there are so many girls on at once
that the money is crap.
Did not like this one at all.
Well run but it was one of my first ever places and I think you need some
experience to work successfully there.
I know a lot of people like this place but I found it very boring.
Dancer D has been on the London strip scene for nearly 15 years and has
worked mainly in pubs over that time. She says " When I started there
were really only the old Soho places and the pubs. I worked at FYEO Park
Royal when it first opened and have tried a few clubs since but I'd actually
say that though there are a lot more places to work now it was actually
better to be a stripper in London 10 years ago." She commented on,
When it first opened I thought it was fantastic after working in lots
of scruffy pubs and the money was very good. As other places opened in
Central London it got less busy though in my experience FYEO are one of
the better and fairer club organisations to work for.
Went there as Alan Whitehead had moved for a time. Good to begin with
but then started packing in the girls. Secrets advertise for new girls
every week without fail in the Stage, that must tell you something !
I really enjoyed working there a few years ago but then they started putting
up the house fee and increasing the number of girls. You used to spend
half the night queuing up for a TD space!
Top London strip pub in my view, well organised with very experienced
staff. Good money and has some of the very best girls working anywhere
in London. More TD spaces than girls {note to other places!} and the jugs
in the evenings are terrific. Can be dead in the afternoon and quite strict.
Sister pub to Browns, runs the same way but smaller. Busier in the afternoons
and has a very good regular clientele, I liked working there a lot.
Tacky, disorganised, small with too many girls. They are though flexible
about shifts and a lot less picky about the girls they use than Browns.
East end pub, stage shows and jugs only. Good and well run, a lot of top
Browns girls work here as well. Main drawback is that as they only have
a few girls on so you won't get many shifts per month there.
Horrid and run by a madwoman.
Used to be very good at lunchtimes especially Friday. Has a table dance
club at the back called Inhibitions which has never really taken off although
it's quite nice décor wise.
